Miguel Brechner Frey is the President of Plan Ceibal, which has deployed 1 million OLPC laptops to schools in Uruguay. He has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Kings College, London, an Msc Telecommunications Engineering from Imperial College, management qualifications from Northwestern University Chicago, and has been President of Centro Ceibal since 2007. In the public sector, he has worked for ANTEL, Dept of Engineering, was President of LATU (Technological Labs of Uruguay) from 2005/2010, Director at the National Research and Innovation Agency ANII from 2007/2013, whilst in the private sector he founded and managed several computer and telecommunications companies in the period 1978-2005, has acted as an external consultant in telecommunications and has provided consultancy for technical services in the Latin American region.
