Sherif Kamal earned his MPA from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University and a BS in sustainable development from Parsons School of Design at The New School. Sherif has over seven years of comprehensive experience in international affairs, strategy, sustainable development, and human rights. He has led numerous international initiatives, focusing on skills development and employability for refugees.

Currently, Sherif is leading the Rapid Education Action (REACT) Initiative at the Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Education), where he is coordinating the private sector response to the challenge of providing education to children and youth caught in emergency situations.

Prior to joining GBC-Education, he worked as part of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs team as a communications and strategy consultant where he prepared proposals on how to further increase the reach of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. As part of the UN Secretary General’s Climate Change Support Team (CCST), he provided support and facilitated decision-making through proactively engaging with high-level officials and decision-makers. Sherif provided critical analysis, essential research, and recommendations on international initiatives. He analyzed and attended financing negotiations for sustainable development; and helped identify the role of the private sector in the success of the LIMA Paris Action Agenda (LPAA). As a policy consultant for the Quality and Conformity Council of Abu Dhabi, he assisted in recommending methods to attract international private investors to meet their renewable energy targets and designed biding mechanisms to reach renewable energy goals.
