Mr. Michelena has a degree in Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, in Quito. In addition, he has a Diploma in Governance and Political Leadership from the IDE Business School and is an active member of the Young Latin American Politicians Network of the Carolina Foundation and the Complutense University of Madrid.
Professional career: Mr. Michelena has more than two decades of experience in political communication, business, journalism, public relations, advertising and marketing. His experience covers a wide range of topics related to the design, development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies, which gave him the opportunity to become Director and Communication Consultant for the World Bank and other private sector companies. He has also collaborated for written, television and radio media in Ecuador.
During 2018 until 2018 until March 2019, Mr. Michelena served as National Secretary of Communication of the Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador.
Since March 14, 2019 he has been Minister of Telecommunications and the Information Society, institution from where he leads the digital transformation of the country, through the Digital Ecuador Policy.
