Eng. Victor Kyalo is an Electronics/Communications Engineer with a wide experience in systems design, integration and project management. He has been involved in the information systems, networking/telecommunications for the last 25 years both in deployment of solutions and in training at the University level.
Currently, Eng. Kyalo is the Principal Secretary in the State Department of ICT & Innovation at the Ministry of ICT, Kenya. Prior to this, he was the CEO at the Kenya ICT Authority. Before then, he was the Deputy CEO/Programmes Manager at the Kenya ICT Board with a focus on the implementation of core communication infrastructure and e-services in different sectors of the economy. Among the notable projects he has been involved in include; leadership of the Kenya TCIP World Bank funded project; the Project Manager/Engineer for the East African Marine System (TEAMS), rollout and operationalization of the National Optical Fibre Backbone Initiative (NOFBI), the first Project Manager for the country wide Digital Literacy Prpogramme (DLP), a lead member of Konza Technopolis initiation and development team, among other key projects.
A founding member of several institutions/pioneering initiatives in the communications sector such as; Kenya Education Network (http://www.kenet.or.ke/) and served as the Executive Director/CEO from 2001 to 2007. A Founding Board member/Ag. CEO of the UbuntuNet Alliance (http://www.ubuntunet.net/). Was also a founding member of the Kenya Network Information Center-KENIC (Kenya’s country code Top Level Domain name .ke administrator) and served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for two terms. Eng. Kyalo has participated as a consultant in various projects in the telecommunications and education sectors.
