 Sustainable@EDU Commitment

“The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what they did not achieve.” Preamble

“They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.” (Preamble;§.18)

The United Nations defined the next 15 years as the Age of Sustainability approving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based on Three Pillars named the 3E, Economic, Social (Equity) and Environment, which in our vision require a Fourth E, the one of Education. Without this E, the other Three are meaningless and we will fail to build a Sustainable Knowledge Society.

“A world with universal literacy. A world with equitable and universal access to quality education at all levels…” (§.7)

Committed to Sustainable Education to continuously improve its access and quality, we join the effort in promoting Sustainable@EDU CommitmentSustainable Standing for Sustainability, @ for Tecnology and EDU for Education.

Strategic Partnerships

“Multi-stakeholder partnerships

17.16 Enhance the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in all countries, in particular developing countries

17.17 Encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships”

The development of Strategic Partnerships is, since the beginning of Sustainable@EDU, its main driver in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) main principles and clearly expressed in GOAL 17, in particular Targets 17.16 and 17.17.

With the Strategic Partnerships we are Committed to SDGs and to maximize the potential of Millennium@EDU as a Multi-stakeholder Partnership.

A world with universal literacy. A world with equitable and universal access to quality education at all levels…” (§.7)

Education, as one of the pillars of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is the framework for the Age of Sustainability literacies, competences and skills that the Sustainable@EDU is Committed to promote through a number of Initiatives covering many of the SDGs Goals and Targets, strongly based on outstanding Partnerships (G17).

Water@EDU (G6), Energy@EDU (G7), Climate@EDU (G13), Code@EDU (G8), Entrepreneurship@EDU (G8), City@EDU (G11) are the first group of Initiatives and Partnerships. In a near future more will be launched to cover all the SDGs and more actions will consolidate and dynamise all of them.

Country Presentations

Experience Sharing

“This is an Agenda of unprecedented scope and significance. It is accepted by all countries and is applicable to all, taking into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development and respecting national policies and priorities. These are universal goals and targets which involve the entire world, developed and developing countries alike. “ (§.5)

“All of us will work to implement the Agenda within our own countries and at the regional and global levels, taking into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development and respecting national policies and priorities. “ (§.21)

To implement the Sustainable@EDU Strategy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda we are taking into consideration the realities of each country where we have projects and are creating a Country@EDU Framework to develop a specific plan led by our local stakeholders and partners.

The Country@EDU Framework includes Initiatives such as as Water@EDU (G6), Energy@EDU (G7), Climate@EDU (G13), Code@EDU (G8), Entrepreneurship@EDU (G8), City@EDU and all other actions developed by local partners and stakeholders.

In the present Meeting, the Projects developed at national, regional or local levels show their achievements and aspirations.
